Lee McGuire is a self-taught artist born and based in Glasgow, Scotland.
From a young age Lee was always interested in pursuing art, however following an assault in 2005 they were left with permanent double-vision. It took them 7 years to pick up a pencil again.
In 2017 they began practising again, resulting in being commissioned by various family and friends, this quickly grew into a full-time commission business shipping in various mediums worldwide.
Throughout the next few years the business grew with a steady amount of opportunities for new skills and mediums to be experimented and learned with.
Covid hit the world just as Lee started experimenting with selling original art on Etsy.com The art commissions community was hit pretty hard with that, commission requests almost completely dried up, while Lee focused and expanded the store with various products.
A watercolour collection of flowers in bottles became popular allowing Lee to survive.
Throughout 2019/20 Lee started developing their own fantasy art style with artworks showcasing mystical and ethereal fantasy scenes. Their technique involves starting with the Notan japanese design concept and allowing a story to develop itself through shape and value experimentation with a focus on composition and strong lighting. They continue to expand their portfolio while working on income through online store sales.
Currently their days revolve around art studies and creating original art, dealing with the admin and day-to-day of running a business by themselves, but mostly lots of dog walks. Meet Sam the West Highland Terrier:
